The food Safety and Standards Authority of India as per food safety and standards (Packaging and Labeling) Regulation act 2011, The Manufacturer must include following information on the label
Name of food product
Name and complete Address of the Manufacturer
Quantity, Contents and weight
Batch Number, Code Number and Lot Number
Table of Ingredients, Including the Extra added in proper order
Table of Mineral and proteins (Including Fat, carbohydrates)
Date of Production, and Expiry
Declaration about the ingredients (INS Number)
Declaration whether the food contents are Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian (Green or Brown logo must be displayed)
As per the Regulation the following are mandatory
All information on the Package Must be clearly readable and Important
The Style and fonts Used to give information must be in big letters and Clear
The height of font must minimum of 1mm and width must be minimum of one third of height
The letters and Graphics must be Clearly visible in color
All information provided on the label should be at one side as importance
They should not be any misleading words that the product has been recommended by medical professionals
Misleading information or pictures about the Origin of food, nature, Ingredients and quality should not be displayed
must not class any food Product as Fruit Product if it does not contain a certain amount of fruit,pulp or juice, those must be declared as Flavored or else name the fruit Flavor
