Wagon Tragedy
Tirur is a witness for the heart breaking “wagon tragedy” of the 1921 rebellion as the British police carried 70 revolutionists in a fully closed airtight train wagon to pothanur in 1921 and thus killed more than fifty persons by asphyxation.The wagons were returned with the dead bodies to Tirur. These bodies were laid to rest in Khabristan of the mosque nearby.
